Worth the wait!,
I’ve been waiting for quite a while to order and read this book. Since using iMovie (and iDVD) weekly, I have read just about everything on the market…most of it seems to be a copy from the Apple site. This book has information that I have found no where else. As soon as I picked it up I looked up a few areas in iMovie that I have been having trouble with and the answers were all there.
Most books just document the features, this one is written by someone who actually uses the program on a daily basis and has quite a few “behind the scenes” features. They also give you an insight on what is going on in the computer when you import and edit audio and video – very useful.
This is a must-read for anyone who uses iMovie to edit and create video.

This book has been an excellent resource. I recommend it to anyone. It is clear, straight forward, organized and gets right to what you need to know. I have since bought other books by this same “Portable Genius” series due to my excellent experience with this book. I HIGHLY recommend it.

|Great for experienced iMac users perhaps,
The author of this book states that she has been enjoying Macs for 25 years. On one hand this might seem great, of the other hand in this instance, she is so used to the machines that I did not think she had a perspective that was useful to someone new to the Mac environment. The jargon was a problem. The simple stuff was not explained well, but too often skimmed over and omitted.
For example the extremely useful “undo” a Control Z on a Windows machine. No clue how to do this on a Mac. Not mentioned in the index. Finally found buried in an appendix.
I looked again, just to see if I was being to hard on this book. I think not. The first chapter has a lot about automation of tasks (complex) and illustrates how it looks on the authors two monitors.
Very flashy. Maybe really at a “Genius” level, but not very practical for me.
Tomorrow I will take the book back.
